All images of the published pollen and spores were taken with a light microscope. The collection consists mostly of seed plants (Spermatophyta). In addition, some ferns (Pteridophyta) and a few mosses (Bryophyta) and fungi (Mycophyta) are listed. Pollen classification according to Beug H.J. "Leitfaden der Pollenbestimmung für Mitteleuropa und angrenzende Gebiete".
Currently 2.706 species, in 236 families, represented by 4.258 pictures of pollen can be found in the Pollen-Wiki.
